Introducing The Drop
We’re very excited to share the details with you of our new sister, The Drop wine bar, opening at the much-awaited Coal Drops Yard development at King’s Cross in October this year.
The name ‘The Drop’ was chosen to reference the location, a small measure of wine, and also the site’s musical heritage – The Drop used to be home to legendary rave venue The Cross, and next to Bagley’s. The aim is to create a delicious, accessible and thoroughly relaxed wine bar deserving of such a space.
Sam, James and Crispin have been working with Aimee Hartley (of Above Sea Level and Genuwine wine and RnB nights)on a list that reflects their own taste, whilst incorporating new and interesting finds discovered by Aimee on her travels throughout 8 years in the wine industry. There will be bottles from classic regions where young, dynamic winemakers are making a splash with their own take on tradition, weird and wonderful wines from lesser corners of the globe, and some old tried and much tested favourites.
The food menu will be loosely British, but in Sam’s words ‘wouldn’t blink at a Burrata,’ happily borrowing from France, Italy and further as this country’s cuisine long has. Karan Ghosh, formerly Head Chef of Thomas’s at Burberry, will lead the kitchen.
The Drop will join a new Barrafina and Casa Pastor, a big new addition to the Mexican family. We can’t wait to share more details with you, and hope to see you for oysters and Muscadet at The Drop’s outside seats this October.
